JACK MEMORIAL FUND — LAST UPDATED: JUNE 1, 2026
The Jack Memorial Fund was founded on June 2, 2026 in loving memory of Jack. The Fund is currently in active development. We are working diligently to formalize its structure, eligibility criteria, and distribution policies.
Tax status
The Jack Memorial Fund has not yet received 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service. Contributions made during this development phase are not tax-deductible as charitable donations. If and when 501(c)(3) status is granted, tax-deductibility will apply only to donations made on or after the IRS-recognized effective date, in accordance with applicable law.
How funds are held
Donations received during this phase will be reserved for future assistance programs once eligibility and distribution policies are finalized. Funds are held in a segregated account and tracked separately from any business operating revenue.
Founding pledge
The founding pledge of $20,000+ attributed to Joseph Behnke is a personal pledge from his own funds. Although it was contributed through a business account for administrative convenience, it represents personal money pledged by Joseph Behnke and is not corporate funding from Books by Behnke or Behnke Holdings.
No guarantee of assistance
A donation to the Jack Memorial Fund does not create any entitlement to assistance for any individual, including the donor. Future grants and assistance will be made at the discretion of the Fund's administrators in accordance with published criteria.
Refunds
Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a donation was made in error, please contact us through the contact page within 14 days and we will review the request in good faith.
Payment processing
Donations are processed securely through Stripe. Books by Behnke does not store full payment card information.
